My Crazy Mission Trip GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!

Posted on 10 November 2011 by Kari Gibson

ENTER MISSION TRIP GIVEAWAY HERE- ENDS 12/2

Do you remember my crazy dream last year to give away a mission trip? I just spoke at a college class and shared what does it mean to Simply Love. After I was done sharing, so many of the students came up to me with questions. I could see their excitement to go serve BIG, but I could also see the #1 fear creeping into their heads that holds so many people back from a radical adventure  … the COST. If you need more inspiration to “Man Up and Go” click here.

Last year you helped My Crazy Adoption give away THREE trips!! It was the biggest, craziest project I have ever been a part of!! Your excitement to go and serve on a mission trip was contagious and life changing for the giveaway winners! The most exciting part for me was knowing the life change that all three winners experienced since our February 2011 Simply Love trip. All three have returned to Africa to serve and even to adopt. THAT is my vision for the giveaway. I know some of you have been praying for the opportunity to go and serve and some of you know of others that are dreaming of going on a mission trip. Just think, God all along has planned on providing your way just by you simply purchasing a tee. Are you ready? Do you know of someone who is ready? (What a great Christmas gift that would be!) I want you go on a radical crazy loving mission trip and make a difference in the life of a child who desperately needs God’s love.

Ooooh! There are a lot of amazing trips listed on the site.

I would personally love to go on a mission trip to Ethiopia and Uganda.

Though, honestly, if I won, I think I would send my husband instead. I think he would do amazing on a mission trip and I believe the Lord would do some good work through him.

I just ordered the “Man Up” tee for my 18 yr old son who is interning at Mattaw Children’s Village in Kenya.
Why? Cuz I miss him and because he’s chosen to “Man Up” every day for the fatherless.

    Oh.How.Fun!
This is my surprise BLESSING for this year…to be asked to share how wonderful I was blessed last Nov. 2nd!
Two years ago today, I was frustrated with adoption prospects and sent my husband a one word email: “DONE!” God must have laughed at me because less than one hour later my phone rang and I was off to pick up a tiny baby in a Chicago hospital. We were not even in the adoption process! He just turned 2 last week and his adoption will be final early next year. We simply love him and cannot imagine life without his adorable little brown face.
One year ago today, I logged on in my pjs to check out Kari’s videotaped drawing for two individual trips to Ethiopia…a place I had left my heart back in 2007. I really just wanted to know if any of MY friends who had entered would be drawn. Name #1, didn’t know her. Name #2, didn’t know her either. BUT WAIT! A surprise…an anonymous family funded a 3rd trip to be given away. They shuffled those entries and dug deep. My daughter and I screamed and cried like those nutty game show contestants when my name and hometown were read – embarrassing, sure – but I still get emotional thinking about it.
Kari stepped out to follow what God put on her heart and became part of His plan to move our family to Ethiopia! My husband was invited on a FREE trip right after I got home and we both made amazing connections in country.
You never know how the God of the universe might use a cute little t-shirt to turn your life delightfully upside-down.
    (www.more2life.org is our adventure!)
Thank you, Kari…from the bottom of my habesha loving heart!

I would go to Ethiopia. I sponsor a child there, and I would love to meet him. I would like to take my daughter along with me. She’s a teen and has the rest of her life ahead of her. How awesome would it be if she set her mind at a young age to go, be, and love.

One year ago TODAY Kari changed my life!! My husband and I had recently just started the adoption process to Ethiopia. We had not told anyone besides our parents and our dear friends who wrote our letters of recommendations. I noticed a lot of people in their gotcha videos have these cool Simply Love t shirt. Being an online shopper, I quickly found Kari’s website and picked up one for me and my husband. After I ordered I read that Kari would be giving a trip away (WOW)!! I honestly thought nothing of it, figuring it would be during my school year and looked forward to my shirts in the mail.
I love reading Kari’s blog and would stop by often and the day of the drawing I thought it would be cool to see who had won.

I start watching the video and was grading papers at the same time. Then Kari DIGS DEEP and pulls out the first name. Bridget Bowen from Liverpool, my first response was shock and shut the computer. I took a moment and watched it again. She really had said my name.

I now looked at the date and it was the exact week of my school’s February break. WOW
I emailed Kari and said I was in shock but excited!!

In February, I flew to Ethiopia (the country where we were adopting from) with thirty people I did not know to embark on an adventure I couldn’t even imagine.

I am so thankful for the people I met on our team and the people I met in Ethiopia.

To continue the amazingness of Kari and God, the weed after we got back was when it was announced Ethiopia would be slowing down. I was sad but God, using Kari had already set up an amazing community of families that were also in the process of adopting or had adopted from Ethiopia who could truly understand how I was feeling and helped support me.

Kari literally makes dreams come true!!!!

I AM GOING!!!! To Haiti… I am in, just working on the funds!

    Hi Kari,

I would go to Uganda and see if our children are there whom we are praying about to adopt! My husband and I are going independent and asking the Lord to show us if we are to take a trip there early next year.

It is great that you are doing this again and I hope to buy a t shirt and be entered again this year just for fun :) !!

That would be awesome to win! I would go to Uganda where I now have a sponsored child, or Korah, Ethiopia where I left my heart with a 10 year old boy and have not been able to locate him through project 61, or if God would call me to another area I would go as well.

  • Leigh Green

We are already going on a trip to Uganda & Ethiopia in the spring with visiting prphans- but now we want to bring our 11 year old daughter with us. I would love to win the trip for her =)

  • Becky McAllister

I would love to return to Ethiopia – I had the blessing of getting to go to Axum 3 years ago! And I would love to go to Uganda. I have a very good friend who works at Good Shepherd Fold!
God has laid on my heart a love and passion for these orphans and I would so love to minister to them! I minister to children as an Elementary Director in my church and have felt God’s tug to reach out to the world!!

awesome…hoping I can win for my husband (since I was just on a missions trip in September to Uganda) but if I decided to go (or he couldn’t) might want to change it up and go somewhere like China!!! :)

I posted the link on FB and would love to win! We adopted our precious Esther Selam 1 1/2 years ago and my dream is now to go back and serve. To somehow serve the precious people of Ethiopia in Jesus’ name. We are doing what we can from here and yes, there is much to do from a distance. But half of my heart is still there and going back is my dream :-)

  • Robin

I forgot to add that I would choose Costa Rica, a life long dream, to visit and opportunity of a lifetime with this contest.<3

  • Deb Heydinger

I would go anywhere – doesn’t matter – the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus is awesome, where He leads – I want to go

  • Erika Elliott

I know God has been laying it on my heart to go to Uganda for some time. I would LOVE to win a trip & take my Husband with me. He supported me going on my first mission trip last year to Ethiopia, but never felt the calling to go on a missions trip himself. Last week while we were at the gym he sent me a text from a neighboring elliptical saying, “I’ve prayed hard about it & have been thinking about it a lot. I’m more than ready to go to Africa with you”. It would be awesome to win a trip & share it with him!

  • http://guaranteeduncertainty.blogspot.com/ Angelica Fowler

I would return to Uganda! I spent 11 weeks there this summer and I can’t wait until the Lord sends me back!
