This is not a spoiler post… I will not ruin anything for you if you’re still waiting to watch the premier of LOST! I have not watched it yet and I’m a crazy LOST fan, but hubby and I have an agreement. If we’re not watching it together, we’re not allowed to watch it alone. That means no peeking, not even a lick of LOST. Tuesday night, we were not together. Business trips put a serious damper on our TV date nights. Going on a LOST date is so much fun. We pop popcorn, chill the Jr. Mints, snuggle under throws and hold on for a wild ride. If you are not a fan, I dare you to dive in and crash our party.
One of the reasons I love LOST is one crazy day I had in Hawaii. Five years ago, my wild dreams came true and we went on a romantic getaway to Oahu’s beautiful North Shore- Turtle Bay Resort. Our ministry was doing a conference and my parents took several of their staff to work and play. We woke up early our first day and took a walk on the beach. It was breathtaking and spectacular at every turn. We wandered down secret paths deep in the jungle. It was everything I dreamed Hawaii would be and more. We walked for an hour and found ourselves under the cover of an enormous banyan tree. It was the most incredible thing I had ever seen (God, you are so amazing!) We couldn’t believe how massive the roots and trunk spanned it’s limbs. We were alone in the jungle and decided to climb it like a pair of two crazy kids. Have you ever had a kiss up in a banyan tree? I have. Looking down, we saw a strange site. It was a huge cage welded into the trunk. We climbed down to explore and realized there were plastic wine glasses scattered all over the ground. How in the world did a cage and wine glasses end up in the jungle under a banyan tree? We were baffled. Our walk continued and we found ourselves back at the beach and saw a familiar site. It was a few scattered shelters and odd items that seemed out of place. All of a sudden hubby looked at me and said, “I swear this looks like a scene out of LOST!” We ran back to the banyan tree and sure enough, it
was very familiar… a LOSTy look to it. We ran around pointing and yelling “That’s LOSTy too!” By the time we returned to the hotel lobby, we had to ask- are we LOST? The friendly barista confirmed our suspicions and told us that the first season of LOST was definitely filmed right here at Turtle Bay Resort and they just had their wrap party under the banyan tree. Ahhhhh ha the plastic wine glass mystery was solved. We were giddy. We were staying at LOST!!
The next morning, we headed to the little town of Haleiwa for coffee at their local Starbucks. The breakfast sandwiches were killer good. We decided to wake up every morning and treat ourselves to the delicacies of knock-you-to-your-knees yum. That night I had a dream. My crazy readers, I will never lie to you or embellish any part of this story. This is how it really happened… I dreamed that I met John Locke aka Terry O’Quinn. I walked up to him and smiled. I casually patted him on the back and said, “Thanks for making Wednesday nights so much fun!” I woke up and told hubby “I’m going to meet John Locke!” Every morning we drove straight to Starbucks and drank
our coffee and munched on tasty breakfast cuisine- Oahu style. On a particularly stunning morning, sipping my carmel macchiato, I glanced in the grocery store that was connected to the coffee house and froze in place. I gasped and inhaled a large hunk of killer sandwich. Roger saw horror in my eyes, but it wasn’t due to the lodged toast…. I saw him. It was him! I jumped up and grabbed Roger’s head whispering loudly- my gosh, it’s him… it’s John Locke!! I ordered hubby to follow me with the camera. I ran walked speedily out the door and took a deep breath. Casually patting Mr. O’Quinn on the back I said, “Thanks for making Wednesday nights so much fun!” He turned quickly around to see who the stalker was and smiled warmly at me. He gave me a hug and I sheepishly asked for a pic with him. Roger was prepped and ready to go. The best part was, my friend Amy came along with us this particular morning and she will vouch that every part of this story is true! Here is my proof!
So, I’m invigorated, yet sad that it’s Season 6 and the last of our LOST date nights.
Here’s a sneek peek trailer- hold on for a crazy ride!
